Confederate Vanguard Union Mechs
→ See also: The Confederate Vanguard Union
Union designs emphasize durability, direct firepower, disciplined battlefield roles, and rugged logistics. Their mechs tend to favor practical weapons, thick armor, and formations built around coordinated pressure.
Union mechs utilize advanced cooling systems and as a result carry more heatsinks than comparable mechs from other factions. Some Union mechs also have jump capabilities.

Mech Entries
Assault
- Patriot (PTR-007, 700 tons): The Patriot is perhaps the most symbolic of Union mechs, a walking fortress embodying their doctrine of sacrifice and resilience. With thick armor, broad weapon coverage, and missile support, it became the backbone of ceremonial as well as battlefield formations. Its name was no accident—the Union intended it as a rallying banner, a machine that stood unbroken while others fell.
- Challenger (CHL-4R, 750 tons): The Challenger was created during the Union’s dueling trials, where mechs were fielded to prove dominance over rival Houses. Mixing rockets, autoguns, and lasers, it was designed for versatility in single combat as well as battlefield challenges. Though less specialized than some designs, its name and legacy are steeped in Union pride: to challenge is to overcome.
- Hammerhead (HMR-4T, 750 tons): Developed for shipboard and port assaults, the Hammerhead mounts twin heavy energy cannons backed by autoguns and lasers. Its name derives from its brutal frontal assault style, “hammering” through defenses like the predator of the sea. Pilots often describe it as inelegant but unstoppable—exactly the qualities the Union prizes.
- Brigadier (BRG-88R, 800 tons): Built to lead batteries of missile carriers, the Brigadier became the cornerstone of Union siege doctrine. Capable of drowning entrenched foes in waves of rockets and missiles, it earned a reputation for ending battles before they truly began. The name Brigadier reflects its command role—always at the center of Union formations, directing fire and breaking lines.
Brawler
- Crossfire (CRF-0S, 500 tons): Born from Union doctrine that no enemy should leave the field unscathed, the Crossfire bristles with overlapping weapon arcs—Vulkan cannon, rockets, lasers, and autogun. It was intended for siege and suppression, saturating kill zones until nothing remained. Pilots often joked that standing in its line of fire was like being caught between two armies—hence the name Crossfire.
- Firebrand (FR-3N, 500 tons): The Firebrand’s origin lies in the Union’s scorched-earth campaigns. Armed with an array of Scorchers supported by lasers and autoguns, it was built to terrorize entrenched enemies, burning them from cover and leaving nothing but ash. The Union embraced the mech’s fiery symbolism, fielding it as both weapon and warning: resistance would be answered with flames.
- Jackman (JCK-77, 650 tons): The Jackman was built during the urban reclamations, where Union forces needed a close-range brawler to clear streets and hold chokepoints. Armed with paired vulkans and heavy lasers, it is devastating in knife-fight ranges. The name reflects the laborers who “jackhammered” the Union’s cities back into shape, embodying relentless industrial grit turned to war.
- Maverick (MAV-8K, 650 tons): The Maverick was developed for commanders who demanded independence from supply trains. Its rockets and high energy cannon made it a devastating ambush platform, while its jump jets allowed it to strike from unexpected angles. The name Maverick honors both its battlefield role and the defiant Union spirit of breaking from convention to seize victory.
Cavalry Striker
- Vagabond (VG-7H, 250 tons): The Vagabond was born of necessity during the Exile, when scattered Union units required a versatile scout and skirmisher. Outfitted with jump jets and a mixed ballistic-energy loadout, it excels in rough terrain where heavier mechs cannot tread. Its name reflects both its wandering origins and its reputation as a survivor, roaming far from supply lines and returning with kills to prove its worth.
- Slugger (SLG-1A, 350 tons): Designed for brutal city fighting during the Restoration, the Slugger carries a heavy energy cannon backed by close-support lasers. Slow but unyielding, it was built to clear enemy strongpoints building by building. The name Slugger is both a nod to its hammering firepower and the Union’s reputation for winning through attrition, no matter how long the fight drags on.
Line Mech
- Dragoon (DGN-8S, 600 tons): The Dragoon was designed as a flexible heavy line unit, able to hold or advance with equal confidence. Combining a heavy energy cannon, vulkan, and defensive lasers, it proved especially valuable in prolonged campaigns where reliability outweighed elegance. Its name recalls the mounted infantry of old—soldiers who could fight wherever they were needed, a tradition the Union holds dear.
Missile Skirmisher
- Alpha Wolf (AWLF-5K, 350 tons): The Alpha Wolf represents the Union’s doctrine of coordinated pack warfare. Armed with paired autoguns, lasers, and missiles, it was designed to anchor wolfpack formations that overwhelmed isolated foes through relentless firepower. Feared for its ability to tear through both armor and morale, the Alpha Wolf earned its name by always leading the kill.
Scout
- Raptor (RPT-1R, 250 tons): Developed as a fast-response raider during the Union’s early frontier wars, the Raptor sacrifices heavy armor for speed and strike capability. Its rocket pods and light lasers made it ideal for harassing supply lines and crippling softer targets before heavier Union assets arrived. Though lightly protected, pilots trusted its agility and ferocity—earning the name Raptor for its swift, predatory strikes.
Superheavy Assault
- Bulwark (BLW-5K, 900 tons): Designed as a defensive anchor, the Bulwark carries massive armor and layered weaponry suited for holding ground against superior numbers. In campaigns where the Union was forced to defend its hard-won territories, the Bulwark became both shield and hammer. Its name speaks for itself: immovable, unshakable, a wall of steel.
- Sword Breaker (SBRK-7R, 900 tons): The Sword Breaker was engineered specifically to counter the dueling champions of rival Houses. With heavy vulkans and precision medium lasers, it excelled at stripping weapons from enemy mechs and leaving them powerless. Its name is both literal and symbolic—the Union’s message that no foreign blade, however sharp, could pierce their resolve.
- Punisher (PNR-004, 950 tons): The Punisher was born from campaigns of retribution. With a heavy energy cannon, ultra vulkan, and missile support, it was built to chase down and annihilate those who dared defy Union authority. Slow but merciless, the Punisher lives up to its name, serving as executioner on the battlefield where no mercy is given.
- Gallimagus (GLM-8G, 1000 tons): The Gallimagus is an ancient design, said to descend from pre-Exile Empire prototypes. Mounting an unprecedented four heavy energy cannons, it was rarely produced due to cost, but every unit became a battlefield legend. Its name, drawn from old Union sagas, evokes a monstrous beast of war—rare, mythical, and terrifying in its wrath.
- Liberator (LBR-9D, 1000 tons): Developed during the Long Exile by remnants of the fallen Empire, the Liberator was designed to spearhead counteroffensives and break enemy sieges. It played a decisive role in the Great Restoration, leading the charge to reclaim the Core worlds. Adopted as the Union’s premiere assault mech, it endures as both battlefield powerhouse and enduring symbol of liberation.
